VILLALCAZAR DE SIRGA: PATH, HISTORY AND HERITAGE
CAMINO DE SANTIAGO
Spirituality, faith and effort come together on the Camino de Santiago. Thousands of pilgrims travel this Jacobean route every year seeking to fulfill their personal goals. A journey of inner search that runs through Palencia territory for 70 kilometers with key points and great wealth that is worth stopping to contemplate. Villalcázar de Sirga is one of them.
GASTRONOMY
The agricultural and livestock activities are the main culprits of the rich Palencia cuisine based on quality products. Excellent raw materials with which to prepare typical dishes of the Castilian plateau.
A good example of all this variety can be found in Villalcázar de Sirga, where the treatment and the quality gastronomy are a sign of identity of its inns.
SANTA MARIA LA BLANCA CHURCH
Colossal, imposing, a National Monument since 1919, this temple stands in the heart of the town. It was built between the 12th and 13th centuries by order of the Order of the Temple. It is one of the highlights of the French Way of St. James that diverted its original route to pass before this marvel of religious architecture.
